Valentines Mansion and Gardens is a lovingly restored Grade II* listed country house within the award‑winning Valentines Park in Ilford. Built around 1696 for Elizabeth Tillotson, widow of the Archbishop of Canterbury, this beautiful 300 year old home has been carefully restored to its Georgian splendour. Visitors can explore period furnished rooms on twice‑weekly open days, including a recreated Victorian kitchen and a Georgian bedchamber complete with a four‑poster bed. It enjoys a stunning setting amongst walled gardens and formal lawns, with the Historic and Beautiful gardens boasting a Victorian rose garden, Old English garden, long water and rococo grottoes. At the heart of Valentines Park, the mansion forms part of a park that has repeatedly been voted one of the top ten Green Flag Award‑winning parks in the country. As a public heritage attraction, the mansion also houses artists’ studios and hosts exhibitions, workshops and special events throughout the year. With its rich history, elegant architecture and tranquil grounds, Valentines Mansion and Gardens provides a unique blend of culture, history and natural beauty.
